Guidelines

Since many of you may be new to this challenge, I figured I'd establish a few ground rules to make sure we're all on the same page. But honestly, since this is really just for fun, it doesn't have many restrictions.

* All genres and pairings are welcome. Collaborations are encouraged. The whole idea behind this project is to branch out and dive into an area of writing that you haven't tried before.

* The story must be a new piece, unless you are planning to continue last year's challenge. This means that unless you intend to work on an unfinished submission from the last challenge, the story cannot be currently published or posted online. (However, the story can be drawn from snippets that you've written but never shared on any online journal, forum, or website.)

* You don't need to know your story's title or plot synopsis when you sign up. But please send me the title, rating, and a brief summary when you send in your submission on or before the deadline!

* The minimum word count should be around 3,500 words. There's absolutely no limit on the maximum.

* While all submissions are due on the designated deadline, the story does not have to be completed by that date (although if your goal is to finish by then, then by all means go for it!).

* If you wish to post the story on your own site or journal as you go, that's fine!

* Awards will be given to all who choose to participate.

* If you have any questions about the challenge or any of these guidelines, feel free to e-mail me!
